0.9.17 Shape properties multi edit

I noticed this line in the Release Notes.

  • [Oz] Shape Properties now properly multi-edit (select 5 circles, change width/height all at once)

so I tried selecting 5 different size circles, but when I change the Height and Width dimensions Lightburn applies them as if the selection was grouped, rather than to each object individually.

I don’t know what it used to do as I never tried it, but the way 0.9.17 is working doesn’t seem right to me… multiedit on selected objecys should apply changes to each object seperately, not as a group…if you want to change the overall group size then you should group them before changing size.

Are you changing the values on the top toolbar, or in the Shape Properties window?

Top bar… where else is there?

The Shape Properties window. Right-click, choose ‘Show Properties’ to bring it up. That lets you edit things like corner radius, image brightness & contrast, number of sides on polygons, etc.

Oh… so the top bar always treats multi select objects as if they were grouped?

The top bar adjusts the size & orientation of your entire selection as a whole, always. We might make a toggle to change that behavior, but I worry that it would just confuse new users.

You answered your own question.

Another program I use, if you select multiple objects of different sizes, the top bar boxes stay blank. If you enter values then EACH object is sized to that size, so it is easy and quick to make multiple objects the same size, (and if the padlock is closed, the aspect ratio is maintained. To get the current Lightburn behaviour, the objects must be simply grouped before resizing.

I guess I just haven’t used Lightburn enough to create original designs to realise the behaviour differed.
