After reading a lot of the posts on the lightburn settings for interlocks on the cheap chinese galvo we picked up off eBay and swearing at it for a couple of hours, here’s what I discovered for our board which is a FBLI-B-LV4 which seems fairly common.
Under “CON4” there is a pin labelled “GIN15” which is pin 9 which the foot pedal input is connected to. If you are looking to utilie the foot pedal controller as an interlock and NOT a “repeat last cut”, you can change the settings to become an interlock.
In lightburn, under device settings, there is “Start Laser” with the setting “15”. Set this to none. Set the “door protect” to “15”.
This is because the lightburn software does not read pin 9 as 9, but as 15. So if you were getting confused with “close door” etc when you set it to 9, it’s looking at pin 9, but pin 9 never changes state. For our laser, pin 15 had to be set high (which is the default)
Hopefully this helps other people who are confused about this. There are instructions on lightburn’s pages (Galvo Settings - LightBurn Documentation) but it’s not clear that 9=15, hence the clarification.
If it’s explained somewhere else not in legacy pages, I couldn’t find it.
