2 cnc running at same time

is it possible to run 2 machines at the same time

would i click open new window and click second device

picking running both over wifi would cause lag , so thinking 1 on wifi , other via usb

is there a page in docs explain this , have had quick look but unsure wheer to start looking

Wifi sucks. The signal strength oftens fades to zero, being fatal to streaming. Use Ethernet instead.

If USB for both, must have two separate USB ports on the PC (some above-basic laptops do, I have on 2 out of 3 machines). I think some have had success with powered hubs, but I am not sure.

You will be running two independent instances of MillMage. Or Lightburn if we are talking about lasers. I think you would need an i5 processor or better to handle the simultaneous streaming.

ive always run MM on wifi and never had an issue have had a couple of pause moments , but nothing worth worrying about

I second that, I’ve had no issues with wifi, doing without hard connections is great - but I can tell you it’s not good to be streaming a job to the CNC from a laptop and then have your laptop battery conk out mid job… :grimacing:

 take it you forgot to plug in power cable , yip that’s always been in back of my mind , power cut when doing a big piece,

on my laptop i installed an external Wi-Fi as kept dropping connection on an old board so now actually have 2 Wi-Fi channels , so i guess icould run 2 machines via wifi , guess only hold back would be if laptop can relay data quick enough

i run two MM to different machines ( 1 mill and 1 lathe) on wifi connection and just open (double click mm icon) two MM at the same time with no problem and my shop laptop is old, but is a I7 with 16G. you might have a IP conflict, i use static IP on each machine, so no chance of IP conflict

cool to know , pretty sure mine is an I7 as well, was thinking that with the ip

as my new machine is only going be 400 x 800 mm was going use usb , but if your running 2 on wifi with no issues ill give that a go can always fall back to usb if needed
