I imported an image into LB and dupplicated it. For both layers, I set Number of passes: 1
However, LB does 2 passes on both layers, resulting in 4 passes instead of 2.
The layer settings are identical except the scan angle (0° → 90°).
What am I missing here?

Do you usually run using Pass-Through? The source is not modified but sent directly through to the laser.
I’d suggest you disable it and run another test.
I actually do because I have the image processed beforhand 
Diabling pass-through as a test didn’t yield a positive result tho, still 4 passes in total
Ok, the artwork is resampled if this isn’t enabled.
Do you have the global pass count at 1 or two? Does it show two passes in the preview?
