Looks like your speed is set way to high (6000). For engraving I would start with something like 2000 at the most. Something like 40% for power. Start with that. Also enable “Laser Fire Button” and “Laser on when Framing” and set power there for 3%. If 2000 still does not give good results drop down to 1500 speed. Start with something simple like a box to check speed and power settings. Check out this video on how to run material test
Jumping straight onto the deep end will end in frustration.
Even before etching/marking anything, running the material test is a good place to start in order to find out the ballpark speeds and powers that could be used.
Thank you I dropped the speed and the power down and it did start to burn the wood for us ! im guessing if we dropped the power down even more it would be a little lighter? as i found it was fairly dark which is okay for somethings but for others we would probably want to do a lighter image but thank you so much for the help <3
If you wish to do photo engraving, I’d suggest you watch Laser Everything videos on photo engraving… They are the toughest thing to do with a laser… Although done with a fiber laser the process works for any laser with any material.
Okay hi its me again so i slowed things down im trying to do a color coated dog tag a small one I believe its stainless steel i’ve watched tons of videos i’ve tried everything it doesn’t seem to want to work still I got it to work with wood yesterday but im now getting frustrated I tried to run the material test still NOTHING happened to the material i am working on
These are my settings right now i’ve slowed it right down power at 100% and just NOTHING what am i doing wrong i’ve watched the videos my sister watched it and we are still slamming our heads to the wall
Distance and focus as far as I know are okay … It’s still working on the Swiftie one I’m letting it run for 8 passes at 50 speed 100% power and it has 2 hrs left I see no mark
Something is majorly wrong. I have a 10 watt and do anodized aluminum at around 3,000 mm/min at 60% power, 1 pass. A dog tag takes just over a minute. This one took 2:52, all text.
I do lots of stainless steel mugs. I use the black marking spray and it engraves easily using this. There are other methods to use but this is easiest for me. I was able to do white power coated ones without spraying. It all depends on the type of coating on the stainless steel.
Interesting would you mind showing me all your settings maybe I have something set wrong Im not at home at the moment to get it all but once I am I can send the photos of what i have as well to see if i have anything different
