I have a current version of Lightburn for my Xtool D1 Pro machine. Obviously that lightburn software is already activated with a Key.
I just bought a Thunder Laser (co2) 51/130w. Thunder Laser Provided a new activation Key with the purchase of the new laser. Do I need to use this activation key, and if so how do I input it? OR can I just use the current Key that is already in use and specify the new type of Laser?
A single activation of LightBurn can control any number of lasers. The only potential limitation here is that you would need to be properly licensed for the DSP+Galvo version of the software which may not be the case if your first laser was a g-code based laser.
If your current key is not licensed for DSP then you have a few options:
Add DSP to your current license. This isn’t ideal since you were provided the key from Thunder Laser and no need to buy an additional license.
Switch to the Thunder Laser provided key which should work with both the new laser as well as your existing laser.
Send an email to support@lightburnsoftware.com, explain the situation and provide the two keys, and they should be able to consolidate the keys in a beneficial way, possibly with more seats but I’m not familiar with the specifics.
