hi please can any one help, i change the $32 to 1 but this keeps resetting after each job. is there a ways to get this to stick in the settings.

That would be your controller firmware itself. Do you have an X-Carve, by chance? I know they’ve done this, and I suspect others have as well. This is not default behavior for GRBL or LightBurn.
it is a grbl laser but a cheap Chinese one of ebay. is there a way for me to edit there firmware or should i stay away from it.

You can probably re-flash it to something not custom, but that really depends on whose board it is, whether their customizations to the firmware include other things, like pin assignment changes, etc. I can’t tell you what their reasons were for changing it.
