3d carving -random trial

so ive seen those pictures with thousands of dots and lines and thought wonder if i can do it in MM

found a picture mucked around with it in LB went to adjust image turned it sketch , played around abit do it was fuzzy , saved it put it into mm

assigned the smallest tapered bullnose i had 1mm i think 1st trial was a stuff up , it cut everything , maybe a transparent background might work

i ended up putting an ice block stick under my probe approx. 2mm thick to trick it so it wouldn’t cut everything and than set depth to 4mm thus is progress so far

have had a quick look at some of the video’s, what ive seen is similar to how i edit in photoshop

can you give me bit more insight as to how it will help with above , can it change pixels/ photos into what is it stipple art ?

i did have a play around with halftones and got what i was expecting but when put into MM wasnt what i expected looks like i was missing the save processed bitmap part , i was trying the convert to bitmap way , that one process changes it all

stipple , v carve, 3D, cabinetry and one just as a spare :ok_hand:

It´s faster if you do a Drill Op.

so i used stipple gen 2

8801 stipples later and got this , pretty stocked with the finish :grinning_face:

drill operation, 30 deg v bit at 2mm DOP

Just when I already have too much to do, you guys come up with this stuff!!!

blame rick he shared the links to stipple, which i just had to go looking at :rofl:

stipple gen was the only 1 i could get to load , never really dived into GitHub, codes trip with my screwed brain some days , so its prob a me thing why they wouldnt load

you need patience with stipple it is very slow at times,

will a drill operation how do u determine depth using a V bit

i would of though it would be determined by the stipple circle , some seem to go deeper than expected. 1mm circle ends up at like 2mm, , i have done a few tests re time with v carve and dill , some pictures quicker with v carve others quicker with drill , interesting , like everything new trial and error

Drill Op are better for regular(same size circles like this

) “stippling”.
To find the depth measure the “circle” diameter (1.05 ish mm in this case, half diameter is 0.525)

Applying the above formula

0.525 mm = ? X Tan(30)

? = .525 / Tan(30) = ~ 0.909 mm

A few examples of different output with a variable stippling size:
Drill, V-Carving with tight Stepover (think as Lines/paths per inch), V-Carving with default Stepover , converted to bitmap and 3D relief Op with little Stepover.
Think V-Carving a bit like Lightburn Offset-Fill and 3D Relief a bit like LightBurn Fill.

that will work when they are roughly all the same

with variable sizes i think ill just run it through v carve , about to build another machine solely for v carve and 3d, so they can just run while im running my big table and doing other work in shed

i guess the hardest part is the visitation of stipple gen , depending on which monitor it is on is to how its final appearance is, than when i open it in MM it looks dif again, which again is monitor visilation

i will just chip away taking notes till i sort it out
