MillMage is not a 3D application. It is 2.5D at best and cannot import STL files. Approved file formats are DXF, SVG, JPG, PDF, and similar types.

Each layer would be a separate operation, so any contouring design would be limited to 30 steps. I am not sure how you could convert the STL to multiple SVG files, but there may be something out there on the internet. I did find this but have no concept of how good it works: STL to SVG Converter

STL files describe only the surface geometry of a three-dimensional object using triangles without any representation of scale information, and the units are arbitrary.

I have converted the stl, it is the note I have quoted, it has all the code, I don’t know how to run it in millmage.

You have not said what you converted the STL to, and how you converted it. We cannot make suggestions without this information.

I loaded your GCode file, assigned an operation, and got an open paths error message. What happens if you try to run that GCode file?

Can you upload the STL file (add .txt to the extension) so we can experiment with it? It would be nice if a procedure could be developed for getting STL files into MillMage.

In the end, the process was very simple. Having the file with the code ready (which I have uploaded at the beginning of the post), I gave the XYZ0, in the “Job Control” I pressed “Run GCode” and the job run.

So are you saying there’s a workaround to 3d carving a file with millmage ?

Think every one would be happy here!

No, I posted because I didn’t know how to run the code I got from Aspire.

I don’t know English well and I may not have understood what you said. If you mean to put in a .stl and have Millmage convert it to code and carve it, then no I didn’t find anything like that. What I did is, take the .stl ready code from Aspire and run it with MillMage in the way I described.

ok that makes sense ! any chance of a picture of the finished product …stl code carved on your cnc > be very interested
