I just renewed my license because I was excited to try the 3D Sliced feature. I don’t see it available on the new version (Mac). How do I get it to show up?
Thanks!

Do you have a galvo laser? It’s meant for use with galvo lasers.

I have a diode laser but I don’t see why the same method would not work with the lower power on specific materials with a diode laser as well. Based on the tests I have done on wood at different levels to achieve different depths I think we could achieve very interesting results.
Diode lasers while excelling in engraving function generally aren’t great at tasks that require the ablation of material. CO2 lasers do something similar to this method on grayscale images. I wouldn’t be surprised if a low fidelity version of this might work on specific materials with a diode but it’s not ideal since higher power on a diode tends to darken rather than ablate material.
There’s nothing keeping you from mocking this up yourself and trying it. Create a heightmap image and burn it using grayscale. You’d need to burn on something quite sensitive to power differences. Perhaps something like foam.
