45 second delay every time my machine is turned on, for just the first file

My laser is doing something fairly new, but very irritating. Whenever I run the first (and only the first) design of the day, either cut or engrave, and send my file to the laser rather than start it from my computer, there is a 45 second delay. Its never more or less and it’s only with the first design. Subsequent designs will run immediately. I always like to send my design to the machine and this 45 seconds starts after I’ve pressed the run/pause button from my control panel. Is there a setting I can change?

Because its irritating to stand over the laser waiting for it to begin moving the head. I don’t try to run it immediately after turning it on. Who would do that?! I load a new design, let the laser home and go to its origin, set the focal length if I’m changing materials that day, and sometimes have other stuff that I do for 10 minutes or so before starting the design. I just would like to press “start” and have it start immediately instead of waiting 45 seconds. Every time after the first it runs immediately and it used to run immediately. This is a change and I don’t like it.

lol did you seriously give me coffee advice? I’m not high strung at all. This is a change after updating Lightburn recently. I’m not sure why the question is offending you so badly, I just want to know how to fix this new problem. Have a good night, man. I think I need someone else to help me here.

That’s because I didn’t mention it, just that it was a new problem. My goodness you’re a dear aren’t you? Why the venom for my asking about something you clearly think is trivial? This is my very first question and very first post on this board so clearly we have no history. I have never offended you or even heard of you before now.
I need help with this problem. If you don’t see it as a problem, why go out of your way to be so snide?

Are there actual helpful people on this board or only guys looking to be big on the internet?

1.0.04 is the version

Yes, thats the type I have. And, up until the last update, my machine worked exactly the same from the first to the last file I would send to the controller. The 45 second delay is odd, new, and not something I’m used to. I’ve had my laser for 12 months now and I run it daily when I’m working. I had a different laser for 1.5 years before this one. I’m not brand new to the laser world, just brand new to posting on here. TBH I’ve only quickly skimmed a few topics in the past to help me set up a new accessory when I have upgraded something. I’m not looking for someone to DO anything for me, just help me diagnose what I can do on my own to fix this problem. I typically frame up my design while I’m standing over the machine,. I don’t have a camera and honestly don’t feel I need one most of the time.

45 seconds is very little in the grand scheme of things and it IS something I could ignore and start my next project during. I just want to figure out why it’s now happening when it hadn’t happened before.

Could it be a windows 11 thing?

I don’t believe so because the issue started before I updated my computer.

Not independently of other software updates.

Ethernet or USB? When I use Ethernet its slow but USB is pretty quick. How about if you send the file to the machine and start it there?

When I start the design from the machine is when it delays like this. I use ethernet, and I’m ok with the speed usually. Its just with the very first design of the day (or after a restart if I leave and come back) there is a 45 second count and then the laser head will start firing.

What’s the delay if you start the project from LB? How many files do you have stored in the machine? Is there any difference if you run the file from a USB stick?

Have you deleted any unused files off the Ruida? Can be done in Lightburn, via the ‘file tab’.

Thank you for the assist, but please play nice.

Have you reached back to the nice folks at OM Tech for any troubleshooting steps for your Ruida control system? Nothing I can think of in LightBurn would cause this behavior, so I might start with determining the motion control system is configured correctly, working properly and as expected.

Does this delay happen for files already stored on the Ruida controller? Meaning, you fire up the laser only, once homed and waiting, do you get this delay when you try the first job? I want to remove the possibility of any software, including LightBurn, as the root cause. How many files do you have stored on the controller?

Edit: Are you seeing any messages or errors presented on the HMI (Human to Machine Interface) control panel screen when this delay is happening?

Im sorry it took a while to reply to everyone. I was in a probation period since it was my first day on the board. I replied to too many things too quickly
Whoops!

First, my controller had way too many files on it. I regularly delete them but somehow I had 90 on there.I guess I hadn’t deleted them recently enough. I deleted them, restarted the controller, and nothing changed. So, I restarted it a second time and for whatever reason that worked.

Thank you all for helping me figure out my issue! It also seems that there is a delay on one of my layers specifically in lightburn, so thats been fixed too.
