A feature request to add label to test engravings

Hey all, I just submitted a feature request and wanted to see if you guys think this would be a valuable addition to LightBurn? Let me know what you think. If you think its a good addition to LB show some support with your vote. Thanks

Automatic Make Lable Feature
A feature that would automatically extract all the setting from the cuts / layers settings editor and populate it to the LightBurn workspace as a label. This would now be a block of text that you can engrave along side a test marking or engraving job just like any other engravable object. This is basically a way to keep track of the dozens of tests we all run when figuring out what settings we like for a project. Keeping track of this is very challenging and time consuming! This practical approach to labeling your test samples is better than writing on the actual sample, using tape, paper labels and wiring down all the info etc. because it’s a permanent marking / engraving that is part of your test sample. Its similar to the materials test generator, however it would show you ALL the settings from the cuts / Layers settings without having to go back to your files. Everything you need to see about any particular test engraving. The settings are populated automatically to the LB workspace so you don’t have to manually type in the info or write it down on every test you do as this is SO time consuming. I feel keeping accurate track of your tests is an invaluable part of learning and serves as valuable reference tool for future projects. I don’t know how many times Ive quickly run a test to then loose track of what the settings were. This block of text would have the ability to be edited if you wanted to add more text to the label and or make some changes, however the cut settings would not be editable since this would defeat the purpose of the feature. The feature could have a button “make cut settings label” either from the cuts / layers editor OR somewhere in the UI. Here is what I have been doing, it works very well but an automatic way to do this would be a great addition to LightBurn.

This kind of already exists. The variable text function has a cut settings operator that you can use to automatically print your cut settings per layer.

Are you saying print the settings on paper? If yes not what Im looking for, printed label’s or hand written always get messed up and is way to time consuming. See the picture I added to my OP.

I watched the video on Variable Text Formatting and I don’t see anything that would be automatic about this as an option. I assume your thinking about using a CSV file but that would mean I would need to populate ever cell, every time I have new settings, so noting really efficient about that. IF you have more input let me know.

Sorry, I was away on vacation.

No,I’m taklking about using the Cut Setting Variable text feature on your workpiece like in the screenshot. Cxx determines what layer the settings are pulled from, s will print the speed, p=power max. m=min power., i=interval. Other settings are available. It’s all spelled out in the link to the docs above.

Here is the output of this string.
