Acrylic is melting

I have been using this machine for a 1 year but today its cutting like this. Andy suggestion on how to fix this please.
Many thanks

With the information you offer, it is pure guesswork for us (me) to come up with a serious problem-solving suggestion.

Its a 5mm gold mirror acrylic. Omtec laser 60w.
Speed 12 power 60%.
Its making these marks on the edges.
What more information would you like?
Thank you

That looks very similar to cuts I got from a cracked lens.

Thanks for the info, just missing the measuring units
With 5mm acrylic, it is generally not easy to get “proper” edges, especially with smaller items. The heat cannot escape from the material.
I have made quite a few acrylic mirrors, but chrome colored and only 2 mm thick. I get my best results with the highest possible speed and the least necessary power. For 2mm mirror, I use 35% max and 8.75% min. power. As speed I use 35 mm/s.
We have (I think) the same machines.
I doubt if you can do it nicely with 5mm acrylic and too fine details.

Thank you. Il try out different speeds, will also check if something is wring with lens. Which lens do you use in your machine? Its is 60w 600 by 400mm?

Jas

I still use the original 2" lens with 50.8mm focal length. I also have 1.5" and 2.5" lenses but never really needed to change.
My machine is an OMT 60W 600x400 with manuely focus and Ruida “Clone” KT332N controller. The machine is from the end of 2022.

It was OK for the last year and just today started producing bad results. Same material yesterday?

Unless you changed something in LB yesterday, it almost HAS to be the machine. Things get dirty, wear out, lose adjustment, and break. After a year, it’s probably time to audit the machine from top to bottom anyway.

thank you. I think im in need of new lens. yes we have the same machine

Used 12speed and 35% power for 5mm mirror acrylic. Also played up with focus so manages to get good results.

Ive ordered a new lens. I hope I get better results.
Thank you

Did you find physical damage to the lens?

Hi! There is a small black dot on it no cracks It’s probably the reason. And i have been using the lens for quite a sometime now. Im not a fulltime laser user but ive been using for 18 months now.
