Activating 'Snap to"

Hi,
Recently purchased an omtech polar+ laser and gradually ‘learning through use’ with LaserBurn - I am completely new to both lasers and the operating software btw. Despite checking both ‘snap
to grid’ and ‘snap to object’ (green in the corresponding boxes) I can not for the life of me get snap to work when drawing in the layout grid. Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong or how to rectify this to make snapping work are greatly appreciate!

Secondly, can you advise what are the optimal settings - laser power and speed, for clean cutting of both 2 and 3mm clear acrylic sheet (perspex). Tried varying combinationsthe best being 65mm/m with power at 20% but this is really to slow for larger shapes/longer cuts. Again, any suggestion is appreciated.

Thank you!

With regards to ‘Snapping’, if you haven’t already this is worth a read:

Thank you :+1: will take a look

Here’s a video, it’s old but still relevant

Isn’t it somehow counterproductive to activate “snap to grid” and “snap to form” both at the same time?

It may be the snapping distances need tweaking to match your screen resolution, because the defaults may be entirely too small.

My display has about 100 DPI = 0.254 mm/pixel, so:

The 10 pixel Object Snap Distance works out to 2.5 mm, larger than the 1 mm Grid Snap Distance, so I can grab objects more easily than grid points.

For 3 mm acrylic with a 60 W CO₂ laser, I use 20 mm/s and 60% = 35-ish W with 14 l/m assist air.
