Adding a laser machine to Lightburn

I have been using the trial now and am quite happy with the default of ‘No machine’ and am getting kind of used to it. I now know I am going to be using an Omtech 60watt CO2 laser machine can I add that somewhere to my trial of Lightburn so that it will start with the page sized to suit the intended laser machine. Anyone ??

Yes, just add it as a new device and set it as default. in the laser window click devices> Create Manually> Ruida> Serial/USB> Give it a name and set the proper bed size> Rear Right Origin> Verify and click finish. In the dialog box showing your machines, highlight the new laser. and click Make Default.

You can use it like this for design. When you get your machine, you can connect via USB or if you decide to use Ethernet (highly recommended) you can just run throughthe wizard again changing from USB to to Ethernet.

When you get your machine, you can go through the device setup wizard and create a device for your machine.

You need to know which corner the machine homes, @thelmuth advised rear/right, mine homes to rear/left, so ensure you know where it homes. This determines the quadrant the machine operates within.

If it’s a co2 with a dsp (such as a Ruida) you need the pro version of Lightburn.

Good luck with your new machine.

You will need the pro version once you get your machine to run with the Ruida controller but you should be able to setup a machine in the setup wizard withe correct bedsize and origin (Should be Rear Right corner) so you can get an accurate feel of the usable space within the program. Congrats on the new machine!

@craigdon just power it up, it should home, select the same corner button to determine it’s home position. Always a good idea to watch the controller screen until you get used to what it’s doing.
