I am using Lightburn 1.4.03 with a Snapmaker A350 and the 40w laser with air assist. I changed the code in Lightburn to M8 to turn the air assist on, but it doesn’t send the code to the machine or save it in a gcode file when enabled. If I send the M8 code from the command line or through a macro, it turns on and M9 turns it off. I’ve compared NC files with air assist on and off and neither has an M8 or M9 code in them. Am I missing a setting somewhere?
This was discovered and discussed in another Topic. No conclusion reached, however.
I know this is elementary, but (1) is Air Assist checked in the Cuts / Settings window, and (2) you are not using T1 or T2 layers?
I thought I read through every air assist post, except for the one directly related to me apparently. There was a solution there for changing to Marlin instead of Snapmaker Marlin and that worked. Thanks for the direction.
That was a partial solution. While plain Marlin turns on the air assist, it won’t fire the laser I had to go back to Snapmaker Marlin. I guess I can’t have both…yet.
