Hi, my air assists causes my laser to overload and die. I can replicate this easily by sending an M8 command which will make the laser unresponsive.
I’ve been in touch with Sculpfun support and so far they’ve sent me new drivers for the air pump which didn’t fix it and then a new main board which also didn’t fix it.
I’m pretty frustrated - I’ve been trying to get this working since January and was just wondering if anyone had suggestions on what part to ask them to replace next.
If the board and air pump have been replaced already, the power supply should be the cause (usually that should be tested first before trying to exchange hardware). Did you test this already?
If this doesn’t help, I suspect your power line. It might not be stable enough. You should test another one or put a UPS in between.
I haven’t tested the power supply no - is there a thread or page to use as a reference? I don’t have an oscilloscope but I do have a voltmeter. Its sharing a power bar with the computer that runs it right now but I’ll try running a direct line to the wall.
Ok I plugged it directly into the wall instead of through the power bar and that worked. I’m pretty upset that’s all it took after fighting with it for like 6 months but well at least its good now.
Those power supplies usually aren’t the best. You should possibly get a spare one, everything at the same voltage (24V in your case, I think) and the same or greater number of amperes is fine. Like a 24V 10A power supply, this should be a $20 investment at common online stores.
Sometimes a pile of plastic isolation, tiny wires and with the earth connection disconnected.
In Portugal, the Chinese only buy Legrand - who knows why…
