Recently Lightburn has been giving me issues with DXF-imported shapes and texts not being “closed”. I can’t say the exact day/time it happened but I can now upload previously ran files that would allow be to scan before but now error out saying I have “678 Unclosed Shapes”. I can take the same DXF and plug it into EZcad for my fiber laser and it will “hatch” just fine without any need for auto-closing gaps. I have tried 4 different ways of exporting my DXF from SOLIDWORKS even just trying a simple square but i get the message “4 Shapes are unclosed”. Any quick fix in my export settings or import settings? Was there an update that I need to revert? I also tried updating to 13.1 to fix the issue with no luck. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
Try increasing the ‘Auto-close tolerance’ in your LightBurn settings (‘Edit’ > ‘Settings’ > ‘File Settings’).
If that doesn’t help, you can try going to ‘Edit’ > ‘Select open shapes’ and then ‘Edit’ > ‘Auto-join selected shapes’.
Thanks for the reply. When changing tolerances it would add lines between the edges of my “fillets” creating a 45° on every corner. I found a solution by uninstalling light burn and reinstalling version 1.06.00. Then the auto close function actually works as intended and will correctly close my objects without distorting or adding random lines. I did try updating to the newest version with no fix for the issues so I decided to revert my installation to a previous version. I still get the message saying I have “678 objects unclosed” when I initially import but then auto-join fixes the issues and allows me to scan. Before any issues started, I would never get this message or have to use the auto-join function for Light Burn to correctly. If you have any other suggestions I’m open to try them, I just needed to get the machine back up and running for general production.
When you’ve got the time, please share an example DXF or two that is Auto-joining properly in 1.0.06, but not in the current version (1.3.01), so we can take a closer look. If you don’t want to share them publicly, you can send them support@lightburnsoftware.com
I’ll email over the DXF since it’s work-related files. Appreciate the help.
