Apply to Mask Grayed Out

I am trying to create a mask. Here is what I did:

  1. Imported an image - (lbrn2, previously a png image created in photoshop)
  2. Selected Tool Layer 1
  3. Selected rectangle tool
  4. Selected that portion of the image with the rectangle tool
  5. Ctrl A to select both the rectangle and the image
  6. Right clicked to see options. I did not see “apply mask to image”
  7. I clicked on Tools tab and saw “apply mask to image” but it was grayed out.
I read in a similar topic “Have you selected one image and one other shape that is all closed vectors?” but I don’t know what that means (all closed vectors).
    What am I doing wrong?
    Appreciate any help.
    Thank you,
    Andy

I can’t use ‘select all’.

I had to select the each separately, the image then the ‘mask’.

Without your .lbrn2 file and more information that’ about all I can offer.

Try that sequence and see if that helps…

Is the cut type “Line” for this rectangle? If it’s not, switch to Line.

Make sure you are only selecting 2 objects, the image and the mask, when you do this. You can see how many objects are selected at the bottom of the application.

Right click should show “Apply mask to image”. Alternatively you can get there from Tools->Apply mask to image.

I just loaded an image and made a circle. With ^A there was no option for the ‘Apply mask…’ Selecting them individually gave me the ‘mask’ option…

I has a little ‘bit’ of garbage out on the outskirts and that’s why the ^A above failed.

@berainlb – point is that you can have only two items…

Might try selecting them individually…

Thanks Guys,
I will try that later today.
Andy

Thanks berainlb,
I was able to make the mask. I selected the area with a rectangle, then while that was selected, I selected the entire image so at that point both were selected. While both were selected, I right clicked, which gave me the option of applying the mask.
Thank again,
Andy

Great… Mark it solved, if that’s the case…

Take care

Hi Jack,
I am new to this. Where do I mark it solved? I have looked at every icon and don’t see any that closes the topic.
Thanks,
Andy
