I purchased a Gen 2 36W laser last summer and I am having sporadic issues with auxiliary positioning seemingly “running away” to the hard stop on the right side of the machine instead of slowly moving to position and stopping. How do I correct this? I am using lightburn software, and I do clear origin everytime before clicking on the macro for Aux Position. It used to happen just once in a while, now it is happening about every 3rd or 4th time i use the aux pos. Very annoying!
Although i would request you to do a bit more lengthy description, sounds to me you are having either a Bad contact on a set of X cables, maybe motion driven bad contact ( as in the machine motions themselves make the cables move in a way a bad contact form)
or your X belt are a bit loose. and you start skipping steps
Both, however should be self evident on the engraving results themselves.
as you do not mention this i am slightly confused if i identified the problem you have correctly
Thsnk you for the reply! I have checked the connections and belt tension. They are both secure and tight. My engravings are correct and sharp. The only issue with the machine, that i can tell, is the engraver head occasionally flying off to the right until it triggers the limit switch. It does it with such speed and force, Im suprised it hasnt broken itself or knocked the laser out of alignment.
I do move the head manually sometimes other times i use the software to align the cross hair laser to the position i want it to be. Then i click on aux position. Again, sometimes it works like it is designed to, then other times it speeds off all the way to the limit switch.
IF you are in absolute coordinates
And you have a object on screen say at X200 Y200
But you move a machine center by hand
And press START
The machine will move 200 mm into what it thinks is the start position to try to go to where you set it to
It can easly ram into the frame
Remember, the machine does not KNOW if you moved the head by hand or not, only programmatically motions update the position of the machine
