Atomstack hurricane homing problems

Hi i just setup my new hurricane with an R7 conveyor feeder table. Everything is new and i imported the settings from the usb that atomstack sends with the laser. When i press the home button on lightburn the motor makes a horrible noise, it always goes to the left and when it hits the limit, it just keeps going and noise gets even more horrible. Any ideas on whats causing the problems? Any help is appreciated.

Does it have limit switches, if so is it going toward the corner with limit switches? If yes then you probably have a problem with laser not tripping the switch.

It does have limit switches and they seem to work no problem. when i manually press them the machine makes a sound and lightburn registers it as well by saying a hard limit was triggered. However the machine keeps going and tries to push by.

The horrible noise from the motor doesnt just happen when it keeps pusing pass the axis limit, it happens whenever it moves in any direction. it just gets worse as expected when it hits one of the limits.

The weird thing is, it only has this problem when using homing. if i manually place the laser head in the middle of the workspace and start laser cutting something, there is no problem with it making weird sounds when moving.

If i place the laser head in the middle of the workspace, click ‘‘home’’. It always moves to the left and as soon as it starts moving the motor makes a horrible noise, which gets even more horrible when it reaches the actual wall on the left.

Perhaps a mechanical misadjustment puts too much force on the X axis motion, so that the motor almost stalls.

@misken’s guide is written for Sculpfun machines, but it’ll give you a good idea of where to look for such problems:

In particular, with the power off you should be able to push the laser head in all directions with minimal effort. If you feel any irregularities or rough spots, pay attention to what’s happening and fix that problem.

After you verify smooth mechanical motion, we can look for other problems.
