I’m using lightburn with my aufero laser 2 and it has been great for me for over a year now. Yesterday I was burning a project and a little over half way through it stopped. I though it was done while I was busing doing something else. I later went over to it to see that it had kinda freaked out and had put a couple letters in spots that they shouldn’t have been and then after a while it just stopped.
So I was done for the day, figured I’d give a go again today and this time it only gets a couple minutes in and then jus stops. The lightburn program is still playing but the laser isn’t moving. I’m not sure what to do here, any thoughts?
Sounds like a power issue
Unplug laser head, run same project
Will motions finish?
OKay, let me try that.
That did the trick!! Thank you, I was about to drop kick this thing, lol. Sorry for the late response it was a long project and I wanted to make sure it made it all the way through before responding.
If without laser head connected machine worked to the very end
Then 2 things might be happening
a) your power adapter needs a upgrade/change
b) at high power something in your envorioment is inducing enough electical noise - at random - that the controller crashes
I would bet on a)
maybe 24v 5amp upgrade is in order
(depends on your laser head)
Oh, I just realized i misunderstand what you advised to do, which was to unplug the laser…leave it unplugged and run the project. I unplugged it, made sure connectors were clean and then plugged it back in. Ran the project and it worked. Could the 24v 5 amp upgrade still be needed?
If you start getting this behavior randomly, but more and more frequently yes for sure
But could be a bad contact, i would give it less odds of that
Yep, well maybe I spoke too soon. The next project I put on it did the same thing not even half way through.
Laser stops firing and moving, there is a light on on the laser head and the lightburn program is still running.
this is a typical “motherboard crash” where voltage drop a lot
maybe this is based on the bad power adapter, or failing
Okay, do you know if I can use a 24v 4 amp power adapter with a Aufero LU2-2? Or should try getting a new 24v 2 amp adapter (same as what I have now)?
I woudl go for 24v 4amp power adapter if i could
Bit of headroom
Thanks, well i’ll see about ordering a 24v 4 amp power adapter and hopefully I don’t burn out the laser head or something
