Baud rate question

Hi
I’m currently ironing out a few issues with configuring my snapmaker ray 20w.
The baud rate for the laser is stated at 460,800 and I’m wondering if it is essential that the laptop, lightburn & the machine all be using the same rate as I know that LB and the laptop are set different from each other and less than the laser.

Typically the baud rate is 115,200 setting in Lightburn. This should work for most GRBL machines. You shouldn’t have to do anything else with the computer or the laser machine. I’m not sure where you got 460,800. But try 115,200 first in lightburn then your good to go if you can connect to the laser. Then if you want try 460,800 and if it doesnt connect you know thats not the right baud rate for your machine

The baud rate must match. Otherwise, communication will fail. Though, the baud rate is chosen by the tool that opens the connection, so if the manual states it’s 460,800 then enter this speed in LB device settings and that’s all you need to do. Other settings in other tools do not change the baud rate that LB uses to communicate.

Is there a quality difference between synchronous and buffered.

I’m getting a lot of little errors and going through as many solutions as possible.

I changed the x:0 y:0 coordinates to G10 L2 P1 X0 Y-400 In the console due to job halting (hard limit & error9 and gcode lockout and alarm8 and homing fail…failed to clear limit switch when pulling off and [I][PLAT]Check limits) immediately or soon after it starts.
console says to increase pulloff but I read a warning in Edit about doing that and dont want to get into further trouble, Also checked wiring…seems tight and ok.

Reset while in motion. Grbl cannot guarantee position. Lost steps are likely. Re-homing is highly recommended.

This sounds like a limit switch is acting wild. It seems that it’s constantly activated.

Thanks Misken
I’ll have to research that a bit. It’s ok once Im away from the back left Home position…or anywhere on the back ‘y’ axis.
Do you think that reducing the work area on x/y by a few mm would help?..and which settings control that?
Is that $130 & $131?

I also tried adjusting $10 from 1 to 2 but it didnt seem to change the value when I checked again.

I’m currently running an engraving image job and its going great…mechanicly that is, artistic can come later!
I tried a simple shape in a rectangle to keep it quick and study the gcode but had no luck running that, so loaded an image.

I can also do a speed/powe test but no luck yet with an interval test.
