While checking mirror alignment, mirror 1 next to the tube dot is perfectly centered…Mirror 2 the dot on the taper is perfectly centered although mirror 3 the laser doesn’t leave a mark. Why is this happening?
Thanks

How are you detecting the results on Mirror 3?
Is there no mark entering Mirror 3?
Is everything right (tape or paper marked) as the light enters Mirror 2?
If it is a new situation, arising in connection with laser beam alignment, it is possible that the M2 deviation is so large that it does not hit M3 at all. Take a large piece of cardboard in front of M3 and test again. - Be careful!
That is a great idea. I will try it when I get home from work. Thanks for helping me solve the problem.
I’ve done this many times… I have wood pieces that are pretty large…
Don’t get your paw in there too close. If it’s an alignment issue, no telling where it’s going to be, so make sure you have enough distance where you are holding it…
You can start 1/4 or 1/2 way along the axes to see where it’s going with some scrap pieces.
Even though not as powerful as after a lens, it’s still pretty damaging… to flesh.
Good luck
