Best way to measure backlash?

Lightburn is great in hiding blacklash issues. It has a genius feature for this which works wonders. But of course it’s a bandaid on an issue that should be taken seriously.

So I wonder: what’s the best way to measure backlash on a machine? Is there some sort of test pattern that can be cut to test it?

And if I’m able to measure the backlash, made sure all mechanics are good (tight belts, etc) what are the settings on my Ruida to play with to minimize backlash? I recon acceleration and speed?

Thanks!
