I want to create a shape and use boolean subtraction to subtract a text shaped cutout at the edge. I can cut part of the text out or I can cut out the part of the text that is outside of the box.
Does boolean subtract only work for simple shapes?

If you mean the text is "outside " then use Weld. Subtract is used for if the text or shape is in the “inside”
