Boolean subtract

Hi, I want to use the boolean subtract function so that I can have one word running through the centre of another word, so basically splitting the back word in two. And have the fore word running through the centre of the back word. Everytime I select the back word and then the foreword it deselect’s the back word that was highlighted. Which means I cant use the boolean subtract. Can you tell me were I am going wrong please. I have included a photo so you can see what I am trying to do

It sounds like you just need to press the Shift key so you can select more than one thing. If you’re this new to things, our new documentation will likely help you - there’s a beginner walkthrough that covers a lot of helpful stuff on selection, layers, and navigating: https://lightburnsoftware.github.io/NewDocs/BeginnerWalkthrough.html
