Not my first rodeo but my first CO2 bronco!

I tried laserGRBL, which I haven’t touched in years. It also coughed up blood but this was the error when I tried to burn something.

Thanks!
Bob

The limit switches are detected as activated. Send the question mark command ? in the console to check which one.

I was starting on a job, a leather hat badge and I realized I was still in the OMTech Device. When I clicked on my diode laser, the bed increased to 400x800 but the badge was still there but now it is reversed and upside down. That may explain what is happening?? Could the X and Y be reversed in the controller?
Thanks,
Bob

This shows that the Y limit switch (Pn:Y) is activated all the time. Check the cabling and make sure nothing is blocking it. If I remember correctly, the switches are inductive, so other metal can disturb the signal.

No, that’s only the LightBurn window. The controller should not be effected when you switch devices. Nothing is changed in the devices when switching.

What I just discovered is that I change the point of origin from upper left to lower right as stated in the setup guide, I am able to operate without any of the errors shown above. It does appear that the water protection off is a known problem and is responsible for the laser not firing.

UPDATE: This worked for a while but now back to as before. If I place a box in the middle and move the head away from the home point in the upper left, towards the middle , then hit the frame button, the head moves to the 00 y axis and then of course errors out. Like the laser wants to move into negative and reversed mode.
This is frustrating. This is my 6th or 7th laser and never had anything like this.
Thanks for your help!
Bob

Thake it one at a time. Check and verify each is working properly before moving to the next…

  1. Home cycle completes properly.
  2. Jog directions are correct when you push the Lightburn buttons.
  3. Get a cup of coffee (or tea) and take a 20 minute break.
  4. Make your boundries and the coordinate system are set up properly. Often, using Absolute Coords makes a lot of headaches go away.

The #4 one usually varies based on the laser model.

1.Home works
2.Jog on Lightburn works
3.Dont drink coffee
4.Exactly the way it was set up

I’m not stressed out just pissed they forgot to QC this one. The Water Protection Off indicator, which I initially assumed would be normal off, but turn on during engraving, Wrong. Supposed to be on when the pump is running. It is a known water flow sensor problem with CO2 lasers…who knew? However some folks indicated it may be a false error as it is in the circuit with a few other kill switches, the lid for example.
I’ll give them till Monday to get this resolved, then have UPS pick it up Tuesday and I’ll order another K40+ If it works it’s a really good deal BUT I purchased a laser engraver for my business, not a project!

Bob

I concur. I also do not want a CO2 laser for the reasons you listed and more. Mine is a Hobby With a Little Income application, but I still want hassle-free toys. :flushed:

I even went to Reddit and enquired if I could rely on the K-40 + to wok out of the box. The general respose was yes..

Tech support wants me to make videos, stanard Chinese delay tactic. The only vide Im goint to make is if UPS hauling this thing bat to Orange County on Tuesday!

I’m pretty sure with my K40+, the origin is back-left and I also set it such in LB. But I can check tomorrow and report back.
