Subject: BRM90130 (Ruida) - “Machine Protected” error. IO shows “Protect” in red.

Message:

Hello everyone,

I am seeking help with my BRM90130 laser (controller Ruida RDC6442). The machine is stuck with the error: “Machine Protected Please ESC”.

Current status:

• IO Diagnostics: “Water prot1” and “Water prot2” are grey (inactive/OK).

• The Issue: The “Protect” field in the IO diagnostics is highlighted in RED.

• Door Sensor: The sensor appears to be working correctly. It has been bypassed with a metal washer (a modification from the previous owner), and the red LED on the sensor is glowing, indicating it is triggered/closed.

What else can trigger this specific “Protect” status on a Ruida controller if the water protection and the door sensor are ruled out?

Thank you for your advice.

Deutsche Version

Betreff: BRM90130 (Ruida) - Fehler “Machine Protected”. IO-Anzeige “Protect” ist rot.

Nachricht:

Hallo zusammen,

Usually the red indicates active, so your door protection is active, but both of your water protection sensors indicate a failure with coolant.

If you use only one tube, then wp1 on the controller isn’t detecting it as being active.

If Protect means door ajar, then it’s active.

Have you checked the water protection circuit?

OMG. Does red indicate an active signal (OK), and grey mean the signal is missing?
In this case, I should continue researching my water cooling system.

What is strange, that it never shows green light, even when the temperature goes to 16 C or more. At the beginning it was only 11.

And yes, sorry, I am absolutely new in this area, I just cut some little stuff sometimes, but the machine is not mine originally.

Thanks for your advices

That may be below the chiller’s minimum setting alarm: it _knows_ the water is too cold for the laser.

I set my chiller to 20 ± 1 °C, with a low temperature alarm at 15 °C. When the Basement Shop gets down to 12 °C in the winter, I must run the chiller for half an hour to _heat_ the water above 15 °C before the chiller turns off its alarm.

It turns out [the 35 W pump motor is water-cooled](https://softsolder.com/2024/04/29/laser-water-chiller-heating/) and dumps about 20 W into the water, so it gradually warms things up.

**Edit:** This looks like the T-503 doc, although it may present a puzzle to verify you’re human:
