Hey everyone, i had a look but could not find anything baout this problem i have encountered. Maybe someone can give me an idea about what is happening.
Let me explain.
I am writing 5 different texts, i need them to be exactly 85mm tall. I write them all out, but when i click on them to make sure they don’t end up at like 85.02mm or whatever they are visually the same size, but numerically way off. One will be 85, then next one 107 for example…and if i change the 107 one to 85 it turns out far too small.
here is a dropbox link to a screen recording i have done of the problem.
Link to video: Dropbox
Let me know your thoughts, thank you!
The link doesn’t work, if you want to show us a video YT is probably better suited, that’s what I always do.
A couple of screenshots might also clarify/explain your question. Right now, with the description you’ve given, I can’t “see” your problem or just guess.
Is it the aspect ratio you’re struggling with? it can be changed by unlocking or locking it…
the forum is turning the link into a video which doesn’t play i see now, but if you right click on the video window and choose “copy video address” and then put it into a new browser window it works.
it has nothing to do with scaling unfortunately. That would have been a nice easy solution
I tried and couldn’t reproduce the issue even after changing hidden properties in the video.
I looked for settings that might be directly related and didn’t see any apparent reason other than the file being created on one computer, modified on another, and the text-related settings differing between computers.
This is not a bug. Check your video, all the texts have the same font size. Be aware that a font size does not mean the same as pixel height of the final text. Read this:
Example: here in this text box, mmmm has a smaller height than llllllllllllll even though both have the same font size.
So the better way to do it then, if i need something to be within a maximum of 85 mm is not to tell the font to do it from the Height dialogue, but for example instead to draw 2 parallel lines 85 mm apart and then just rezise the text into this box between the lines?
Yes, I think so. I usually just draw rectangles of the desired size on a tool layer, then those are never sent to the laser. You can also lock them in case you often change the text and move it around a lot.
