Camera alignment burn on wood?

For any of the camera alignment processes, does it work for the pattern to be burnt on to wood thereby ensuring flatness? Or does lightburn rely on a black and white pattern?

Is it necessary for the camera alignment (rather than the lens alignment) to be burnt newly each time? Can I keep a piece of card (or wood) with the test pattern and use that?

Here, Oz addresses this directly. Saves having to retype.

For the camera alignment, it’s important that the laser burn it because it has to be exactly where the laser put it. If you move it even a little after it’s burned, prior to capture, you’ll affect the results.

For the lens pattern, you generally only have to do that once, unless you change cameras, and the link above covers the rest.
