I have upgraded to 2.1.1 and just calibrated and aligned the camera. The camera constantly goes out of alignment even in earlier versions. I was told by the people at Boss it is from raising and lowering the lid on the machine. This is the camera that I purchased with the machine and and Boss sent the machine with it installed. The mount seems tight. Can anyone give me any suggestions?
I’m not familiar with the specific laser machine, but I know that regarding camera alignment, it’s necessary to ensure that if the camera moves, when it returns to its original position, it must remain precisely in the same position where it was calibrated. Any deviation will lead to the problem you’re describing.
As already mentioned by @Parsec, it’s necessary to find a way to guarantee that the camera always parks precisely in the same spot.
Another (minor) remark: if the bed is not height adjustable, you need to do a calibration for each workpiece height. The calibration is only valid for one specific distance to the camera. It may not change.
Even with an adjustable table, I believe that only if the camera moves with the work table will it not be necessary to calibrate for the new height.
I’ve never worked with any of these options, but it makes sense to me.
Oh, thank you for your remark, it’s always a plus!
No. If you use an adjustable table, the camera, and laser head are fixed in height, and the workpiece will be as well (virtually). If you calibrate at the bed height, you are done. When using a 1 cm thick workpiece, the bed will move down by 1 cm, and the top of the workpiece will have the same distance to the camera as the calibrated plane was.
I asked this question before, but didn’t get an answer. When I calibrate at different heights, I save each one with a unique name. With the new version, I can’t find the location where the files are stored. Can somebody share where the files are stored?
You decide, where those files go. Once you click on “export camera settings”, a dialog opens that lets you decide where to store them. So it can be anywhere.
By default, I believe the settings are saved in a Lightburn folder where all the other settings are also located.
Once that location is changed, it’s impossible for us to guess.
In your place, I would search the computer for files with the prefix lbcm (*.lcbm), which, according to my research, is the prefix for camera settings files. (If I were at home, I would check mine to see what the exact prefix is.)
Thanks, I guess that is what I was doing before. It’s been a while since I’ve had to do this. This brings the question, does Lightburn save the current alignment that was imported when it exits and reload it when it starts again, or does it always load the file it last saved when you did an alignment. Just wondering if I have reload one of my alignment files every time I start Lightburn.
That’s a good question. I guess it does the first option (because if you never did a manual export, there might be no extra file created, just stored internally), but I don’t know.
