When I originally setup the Lightburn Pro software to my Creality Falcon2 Pro, I could see the USB attached camera that was on my Falcon2 Pro machine. When selecting the Camera Control, I could see my camera as an option to select. I did the Calibrate Camera Lens and Calibrate Camera Alignment with all working well. At a little stage later and as I use the computer with other programs I had to do a reboot of my PC with updates. Not sure if this did anything to contribute to my issue, but now I canât see my USB camera in the Lightburnâs Camera Control thatâs in my Falcon2 Pro.
Any assistance would be appreciated
If Windows Updates are the only variable that changed, Iâd recommend looking at the Update history.
Do you see anything in that list that could be related to USB drivers or cameras?
The camera in the Falcon2 Pro is connected via USB. Is the cable firmly seated?
Can other programs like the Windows Photos app access the camera?
Hi Arron, thanks for your assistance. Unfortunately, when I go to see about back dating the software that option is greyed out and I canât back date.
regards
Grant
Hi again, my bad as found the uninstall option for the latest update and did it. Will do a reboot to check again
Hi Arron, still no good and now even doing an un-powering the laser and re-powering it, the Lightburn is only seeing the one USB not

Does the camera appear in the Device Manager, and can it be used with the Windows Photos App?
Hi Arron
no, it does not show up in my Device Manager only the laser and how do I find the Windows Photo app as I found a Photos app see below, as not sure this is it
I am getting a USB extender but wonât come until next week sometime but I have changed over the USB cables from the laser to the camera and Lightburn picked up the laser no problems
Cheers
Grant
The Falcon 2 Pro has a separate connection for the camera here:
Youâll need to use a USB-A to USB-C cable. A USB-C to C cable will likely not work.
Hi Arron, I know this. I have been connected to this USB C plug all the time as well as the one for the laser.
Connected with a USB C thru a USB A connection to my PC. This is where I have swapped both of the USB C connections over from the laser to the camera connection, with knowing that both cables are working with the laser connection bi=eing the only connection I can see on my Device Manager
Sorry, I meant to say Windows Camera App.
But if the camera doesnât show up in Device Manager, no program will see it either.
Since youâve confirmed that the USB cable is working, I suspect that the camera itself is defective.
If possible, try it on another computer. Or reach out to Creality directly.
Hi Arron,
When connecting to a USB cable that runs more than 5 meters from the Creality Falcon2 Pro Laser to my PC with Lightburn operating, I can still use the Lightburn connection to my laser using (Com5)
(I can physically see my laser and normally operate it by taking my wifi mouse over to the laser when operating it to start it)
This is not the issue, its that even though I donât seem to have any connection issues, its that I thought to be better to use a USB Extender which I have now got.
Only issue is when setting up the USB connection for Lightburn once I use the USB Extender, as there is no Com5 connection any more in the computers Device Manager I need to use one of the other USB connections designated from the Universal Serial Bus controllers below
In the Universal Serial Bus controllers, the first two Generic Composite Devices are Ports 9 and 12 respectively
For the USB Composite Devices they are Ports 7, 10 and 6 respectively
With the last USB Serial Converter being Port 2
My issue is that when I go to set up in Lightburn Devices and Create Manually I can select Custom G code then press Next then select Serial/USB then Next, then populate the next page and press Next then accept the Origin page but with the next page as below the Network Port is greyed out so I canât select any of the USB ports from the selection above
I think that the 2nd USB Generic Hub connection is from the USB Extender as Port# 12
Also in the USB Serial Converter is Port # 2
How can I change the Network Port to not be greyed out so I can select my port options?
Regards
Grant
Hello Grant,
Slow down, please ![]()
5 meters is very long for a USB cable. If I understood correctly, you are using a powered USB cable. Thatâs good, and usually necessary to get a connection at all. However, it introduces potential connection problems.
The âNetwork Portâ in the device settings is greyed out because it has nothing to do with the COM port.
Serial COM port numbers are associated with arbitrary numbers and can change over time.
Select whichever Port disappears in the drop-down list when you unplug the laser.
You should see a response in your âConsoleâ window when youâve selected the correct port.
Hi Aaron,
thanks for the reply and sorry for the flood of info. ![]()
My original USB only cable was more that 5 meters and I had no issues with connection even though it was unpowered.
What I thought that I had to use was a USB Extender (powered) as cable was longer than 5 meters. Plus I would only use 1 cable not 3 different USB unpowered cables as 2 for Creality Laser and 1 for another machine next to the laser
Using the non powered USB that displays as Com 5 under the Ports(COM & LPT), I can select that in Lightburn, see below
When I use the powered USB connection (now via a Network cable) the selection of Com 5 isnât available to me anymore as the only options available to me now is in the Universal Serial Bus controllers in Device Manager.
This is why I need to be able to select it in the Devices and Create Manually to be able to select the Network Port option.
The powered USB extender displays all options of connections in the Universal Serial Bus controllers even though they might not be plugged into the USB Extender thatâs why I need to select which one might be the laser port
See below as neither COM1 or COM6 are the laser option.
Why have the option to manually create the connection when you canât select the Port as it uses the default port option?

Grant
Youâre good ![]()
I only said this because I believe itâs easier than you think!
Really, 5 Meters is the upper limit in the USB spec. It may work once, but then lead to strange problems, for example, when the stepper motors kick in and the EMF interferes with the connection.
Unpowered 5 m USB cables are not worth my nerves, and I would be surprised if Creality included one.
USB Hubs donât usually display as COM ports. Itâs one of the devices that are connected to this hub.
Forget about the âUniversal Serial Bus Controllersâ. You are looking for the COM Port of your laser.
I donât understand what that means. Can you show a picture of what you are using here?
Again, since you are connected over USB, you donât need the Network Port. Thatâs why itâs greyed out. (Network Port 23 is the Network Port, not the COM Port. This is only relevant, if you are trying to connect over WiFi, not USB.)
You manually created the Device. The COM port needs to be selected afterwards, in the âLaserâ window.
There is no âdefault portâ because these numbers are assigned by Windows and can change arbitrarily.
Hi Aaron,
thanks again for the reply
I bought the 5 meter cable
The ethernet cable is 20M long
I wanted to use the powered USB connection through the ethernet cable as wanted to cleanup the number of cables I have on the floor.
Do you know what Windows does when defining a USB connection is either a Ports (COM & LPT) or Universal Serial Bus Controller as it appears to me that the other machine that connects through the same ethernet cable appears as COM6 yet the other USB cables are not, but created as Universal Serial Bus Controller ?
Regards
Grant
Thank you for the pictures. That does clear things up.
It appears to me that the Laser/CNC side of this âRJ45 USB HUBâ also needs to be powered separately:
(The red light on the RJ45 is on, but this does not necessarily mean that the box actually receives power over Ethernet, âPoEâ)
The âPWRâ led is off!
Do this, please:
Connect the correct power supply to the extender on the laser side, and see whether you get a COM port to select in LightBurn.
If you donât, do yourself a favor and test it with a direct USB connection from the laser to the computer.
The Falconâs camera should also appear in the Device Manager.
Same goes for a mouse, or keyboard connected to one of the USB ports on the backside of the hub.
