I have a 170° fisheye camera sitting 12" above my 400 wide x 415 deep honeycomb work table. The camera covers about 425 wide x 300 deep of the work surface…so it covers more than full width by less than full depth.
So the question is although I have my work surface listed in Lightburn as 400 x 415 do I set it at that full size in the camera calibration/alignment or do I use the dimensions of what the camera covers.
My thought is to set the camera work area as 400 x 300 (which is the actual work area within the lens exposure) but would like some input on whether that is the correct strategy.
On the other hand I first stared with a normal lens camera and got pretty good results using the full 400 x 415 table size while the lens only covered about 300 x 200 of the work area.
If possible, try raising your camera mounting height until your entire work area is covered. Then simply complete your calibrations with the correct measurements of your machine.
You should add the laser a second time, with a work area of 400x300, and do the calibration process as usual.
Than you can switch between the “camera-laser” and “normal workspace”. It’s not recommended to calibrate the camera on a smaller workspace than LB uses. Additionally, make sure that the homing position is covered, since this is mroe or less required.
