Probably in the manual but could not find it…I did give it a moderate attempt…but can I stop Lightburn from assigning a default save as file name. I have accidently overwritten a previous file saved because LB likes to autofill the save as file name with whatever the previous open file was
My Lightburn has a blank filename when I go to save the file. Do you mean a blank filename when you send it to the laser?
What I mean is when you want to save the current file as an lb project. If it is a file you imported and now want to save as an lb file it will always default to the last lb file name you saved. I don’t want it to do this….it would be fine if it defaulted to the name of the imported file but it does not. So if the imported file is named File1 but the last LB file used was say File22 then when you go to save the imported File1 it will auto fill file name as File22….
I think the procedure you are using may be part of the problem.
If you want to create something new, use the File → New option and it will clear all names. If you click on File → Save or the ‘save’ icon, it will query for a filename, since it is ‘untitled’. The top of the window reflects the file name association.
Most of us work on a project and import ‘parts’ of the new project. I certainly don’t want it applying the ‘imported’ file name every time I imported something. Import by name implies it will be part of something larger.
The other option is to use the File → Save As and name it there. Probably the most common. I have files that have ‘templates’ for materials I use frequently. They have ‘tool’ boarders that outline where that part will be when a particular jig is used. I commonly open one of these and immediately do a ‘save as’ under the new directory/project name. Importing the graphics/vectors to finish the design. The original stays in the ‘template’ library, untouched.
In almost 50 years of dealing with computers hardware/software, Lightburn has to the be the best thought out design. Almost reads you mind when you want to do something and has the best support I’ve ever seen and experienced.
Good luck… Take care…
