I have purchased Lightburn and installed it onto my laptop which is connected to the machine. However, I also want to put the same software onto my main tower, which is in my home. Do I have to buy another license?
You can use it on two different machines, that is the maximum…
AWESOME! Thank you!
Joe
Actually, the “Official” word is 2, but if you ask nicely, they will add a 3rd seat to your license for free. Official docs here:
I am happy as a clam with TWO installations! I have the laptop out in the hot (or cold) shop, and the PC tower in the comfy office of my home. so I just wanted the option to work with the software NOT in the shop.
PlasmaCam charges for additional “seats” for their software, which I personally find offensive. I told them that every license should come with THREE seats; one for the machine PC in the shop or garage, one for a home PC tower in an office or den, and one for a laptop, so you can use the design software in the dining room at Aunt Edna’s house at Thanksgiving, while your slightly inebriated Uncle Cedrick regales the family with old war stories they’ve heard a hundred times.
Most software is limited in scope to where you can operate.
Microsoft commercially charges by the ‘core’ for servers.
A single license is for two cores. If you have a 32 core server, you pay for 16 server licenses.
It’s how most software businesses works… and why most of the worlds servers run some flavor of Linux.
I get ya. I’ve actually got 4 seats in my LightBurn license. One on my galvo, one on my pc for my laser, one on my main design machine in the house and one on my laptop. And, I don’t even have a co2 laser I can run with LightBurn. Running an Epilog machine currently, but STILL do most of my design work in LightBurn. Export to Corel to push to the laser. But, I just love how easy things are to do in LightBurn. Was stoked when I could use it on my Galvo laser.
I’ve for one of those to show up here …
I do have a galvo laser. I bought it a few years ago, and set it aside after a brief period of experimentation. i do like it, but I have not yet moved it from my home to my shop.
