I have 2 layers, one is the shape of the item I want to engrave the other is my design. My design goes outside of the shape of the item I want to engrave. the item is in a jig and I do not want it to burn up my jig. How can I use the shape outline during designing to effectively cut off the overlap graphics?
Thank you so much for your reply! FYI total noob here, literally the first time I am exploring the software. So that being said, I tried the Image masking feature and I used the tool to draw a rectangle around my image, but it does not allow me to select the image masking feature. I assume it is because I am not using an image, It is a trace I did of an image. In Fusion360 I can draw a square or any shape for that matter and use it as a cutting tool for something else. I believe I’ve seen videos of the same feature in Lightburn?
I just figured it out. Draw a box around what you don’t want then select the trace and the box and use the A-B subtract one shape from another. Thanks for getting me on the right track and teaching me something new!
Ah! If it’s a trace you’ll want the boolean tools: Modifier Tools - LightBurn Software Documentation. You’ll likely want Boolean Intersection, but they’re sometimes tricky, so try the boolean assistant if you get stuck.
