I downloaded the 9.16 trial version on my windows PC to use with my Ortur laser 2. It took multiple attempts to connect to the laser initially but once connected I was able to run a couple files and it worked well. After that session I haven’t been able to reconnect to the laser. I’ve tried numerous times to close lightburn, turn off the laser, unplug and plug in again, and I’ve also messed with the com port and ensured it’s the same that I used when it worked initially. I want purchase this software but I don’t want to if I can’t connect to the laser. Thanks for the assistance in advance!
Have you manually chosen a COM port?

Yes I’ve manually chosen the port. Also when I plug in the USB or turn the machine on I get an audible notification from the computer that a device has been recognized.
Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to bring up the task manager and see if there’s a dead copy of LightBurn still running that has the port locked, maybe?
Ok that worked but I’ve got another issue. While making adjustments it gave me a busy signal and wouldn’t allow me to do anything. I’ve had that happen a couple times and all I know to do is shut it down and start over to fix it. It also tells me that I’m streaming when I try to shut it down.
I’ve made changes for the next release that should prevent this in the future, depending on the cause. You don’t have to full reset everything, just right-click the ‘Devices’ button in the Laser window to reset the connection.
I don’t know what this means but I will say that in my case when i try to burn a dithered image (regardless speed/dpi - it can happen at 250mms/254dpi or 10mms/10dpi - same results) my smoothieboard (running Cluster fw) locks due to, so I’m guessing, bad usb communication and report that controller is “busy” and right clicking devices or sending reset from console never fixed that and i need to physically disconnect and reconnect USB to unlock the board and for lightburn to reestablish communication with my board.
This never happens even in 250mms vector rasterizing fills and/or cuts.
I don’t know if this is related, but thought I should just put it here.
Every time I attempt to use the frame feature I get the busy signal and it locks up. When I right click on device it won’t automatically reconnect and I have to turn off the CNC and start over.
Are you choosing a COM port?
Can you show a screen shot of the LightBurn window (showing the Console and the Laser windows) before you click the Frame button, and again after?
