I am trying to make a rubber stamp which i have done a number of times very sucessfully but in this case i cant seem to fully click on my design to the left it only shows the lettering not the other. I thought that there was a flaw in the design in that the lines of the design was not joined. When i select the design into the square the lettering turns white but not the arrow and bottom. I have grouped both font and design but still the same. Looks like i need to set something
The other shapes are NOT closed. Otherwise, they would be filled in the lower picture. You need to close them (auto join or close paths) and then try again.
I inspected the joins by zooming on max on in the design and they look closed, i will try again.
I clicked on join shapes with tolerance and it worked, many thanks for your help.
I’ve had this issue..
I usually select the item, then ‘BREAK APART’
then ‘AUTO JOIN’
but also make sure all lines are connected, and there are no loose lines hanging off…
Put them on a separate layer if that helps..
I managed to cut the design worked perfectly so i tried another design where it had fine lines in the logo. I auto traced the design see picture but the fine lines didn’t come out, the wing of the logo on the left so i had to add them. The main outline of the wing no problem the fine lines which you see dotted in the last picture. The last picture of my second post withthe warning sign.
I clicked on my fill colour for both background orange and then merged them so the orange logo is in the white ready to print which what normally happens.
As you can see the fine lines on the wing of the logo left hand side is the issue i have, as in the previous posts on this topic i checked that these lines were auto linked connected as one but when i go to cut it seems i get this message " 7 shapes set to fill but weren’t closed, these have been removed as they cause problems. When i go to cut these lines don’t come out in the design, it seems i need to do something??? put in another layer?? thought they would be part of the design. So in future if i want to copy and trace a design but add my own line work in, what the procedure for the lines added to by cut as part of the whole design.
So what’s happening is this: Lines aren’t closed shapes and cannot be part of a fill layer. Since thes are just straight lines You have 2 simple options.
When you get the error message, click show me. This will select only the lines that are an issue. Then either click on a different layer color on the bottom of the screen and use that as a line layer, this keeps the lines as skinny as your laser point, or option 2, click the offset tool and do a very small offset and choose delete original. That will make the lines slightly thicker, but able to be used on a fill layer.
So i tried what you said put the lines in question in a blue layer and had a go at enlarging the lines just to try. Works perfect, many thanks for your help, thank god theres a Lightburn forum and guys like you to help.
