Change speed settings midstream

Hi, can I change speed or power settings after laser has already started?

Under the MOVE tab, you can “+” or “-” the speed and power while the file is being run.

Hi and thanks, I tried that, from 3000 speed to 6000, but it didn’t look to go any faster, when you change it is there anything to press to activate the change?

Hi Richard

You are able to use the Move Panel override controls

However, these are limited to +100 -100% of current speed and power.

You cannot change the layer settings on the fly - it won’t change the output of the laser as the Gcode is computed and parsed then sent to the laser when you click START.
After that the code won’t change.

The change from the move panel is not instant, but it is close.

Are you working on a fill pattern or on a line/cut?

To test, make a 1"x1" square and set to fill. Start the burn and let it run for 1/4 of the pattern, then press PAUSE. Change your settings in the move tab and press RESUME - you will see the difference. If you are already maxed out on your settings, making it go more won’t change the output.

Start your test at 50% power and increase it 100% under the MOVE tab.

Thanks for the replies, it was actually a photo, it to approx 8hrs, it was going ever so slow, 3000 S - 11% P, I didn’t pause it just doubled S and P, and looking at it, speed didn’t seem to change, thanks again all!

Start small and get your protocol down before you dive into the image engraving.

If you are already set as fast as the machine can go, increasing speed won’t help.

My machine says it can go 10,000 mm/m…but it needs more than 17 inches to accelerate and then decelerate that much. Kinda like my 4 cylinder commuter car that has a speedo that tops out at 140 mph. It is never gonna get that fast unless dropped out of an airplane…
