Changes in File Settings opened in new computer in new laser?

My brother and I have the same model LS 1420 Laser. I sent him a lightburn file, with about 7 color layers. Now the power and speed settings seem to the same but he says the KERF was +0.127 on two layers that I have a kerf set to -0.00500. I have no other kerfs set and there is no other kerfs on his other layers. But the 2 that I had set were somehow changed to +0.127.
He is not familiar with lightburn as much, so he didn’t change it himself, as he opened the lightburn .lbrn file from his email right into lightburn. So did his settings change it from his previous lightburn files, or settings, or preferences for that color? he has used lightburn a few times only in past, maybe twice. When I went to the email I sent him, and reopened the file sent to him, and they were all still showing -0.005 as I intended. What happened?

Is there a way to ensure all the exact sizes and dimensions, kerfs, lead ins, starting positions are included in a lightburn file? This messed up the items he already lasered. :frowning:

They should all be identical. That said, 0.005 is really small, which makes me think you’re probably in inches, and he’s in mm, and 0.005 inches happens to be exactly 0.127 mm.

Millimeter units are the default in LightBurn, and everything is displayed in the specified units. Always, always remember 0.005 is not a distance, but 0.005" is. Numbers are meaningless unless accompanied by their units.
