Click Off & Click On from Library?

Hi, I have searched the forum, but haven’t found any info. In all my other vector based software programs, I can load in a graphic and while it is still selected, I can center it, such as Corel with the “p” key. However, in Light Burn (Which I love so far), I have to click off (so it is not selected) and then click on again, in order to center it on the work space. If you want to see what I am talking about, try this:

  1. Double Click a Art File in your Library.
  2. Once it pops up on your screen, immediately hit the “p” key to center it to the page.
  3. On my screen, it will not do anything, even though it is selected.
  4. (This is where I have to de-select and then re-select to make the “p” key work.

It seems as the Art Library window docker is still selected and that’s why. However, if you open a graphic in Corel Draw, and place it for example, and it is still selected, then hit the “p” key, it will center right away. I think a great fix for this would be to have Lightburn “let go” of the art library window so the object on the page can be immediately manipulated, instead of having to click off and then on again. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

Which version?

Noteworthy: there’s a Feature Request area for things like this.

In the current release (1.4.05) and the recent beta offered in public, a double-click of art in the Art Library should place the art in the center of the workspace for you. Does this not happen for you when you double-click your art from a library?

If you decide instead to drag and drop art assets to the workspace, they are placed where you drop. You can then simply click the shape you just dropped, which brings focus back to the workspace, and the ‘P’ key will center that current selected shape.

No requirement to click off shape and then select again.

I have the latest 1.4.05

Rick, when I double click from the library, it places the image slightly to the right and slightly lower than center. It I drag a object from the Art Library, there is no way to place it in the center, and the p button will not work. I still have to De-Select - Select in order for that P key to work. Anyway, it places the image approximately 2mm to the right of center and .6mm lower than center on all of my library. De-select and Re-select and it perfectly centers. I am just trying to avoid all the clicks. Thanks!

I must add that I just shut down Light Burn and restarted and then it worked when double clicking. Shut Down Again and reloaded and it is broke again. Seems like a random bug somewhere in the software. I put a support ticket in.

So what it is, is that when you zoom to frame selection, it works perfect with the double click from the art library. As soon as you zoom in or out, it will no longer center to your workspace (cross hairs).

Thank you for the further details. Have confirmed this behavior and will generate a report.

Thank you! :grinning:

After internal discussion, Oz provided the following:

This is not a bug - All imports (including importing from the art library) import to the center of the view, not the center of the page. When using drag & drop they import to the mouse position. It’s always been this way.
