I had 2 sheets of Blue/White Duet Acrylic that I’ve really never used succesfully was able to get clear white to show.
I have a 50w Monoport CO2 and I can get the blue off the top engraved a bit to show the white base, but the white still has some blue “tints” to it, if that makes sense. Settings are SPD 300, pwr 21/21, LPI 0.0450.
Does this usually require a 2nd pass with a lower LPI to get the white base “whiter”
I thought I would make up some keychains for a new customer to give to them to use the material up.
Dark colors like Blue and Red to white can be tricky. A couple of tips. Air off while engraving, so that they air assist is not blowing the blasted top layer back into the white, which will stain it. Blues and Red are some of the worst for that. Bottom up engraving, which LightBurn does by default so you’re not pulling the blasted top layer back over top of the white. Sometimes, a low power fast speed second pass may be needed to brighten things up. The other tip is get a bottle of Hexane. That stuff is amazing for cleaning up engraving plastics. Assuming it’s staining, it can clean that up and also instantly takes the stickiness of the plastic away after cutting. Just be sure to read the SDS sheet for it’s safe usage. I usually pick up Hexane off of eBay.
