Coated playing cards

I have a Falcon A1 laser engraver and I am trying to see if there is a way to engrave on the coated playing cards. what, if it is possible, would be the correct parameters be? Has anyone tried this even with another falcon engraver?

If you have a few extra cards to use as tests, I would open the ‘Material Test Generator’ and run a few examples to see what settings produce the results you are after.

I’m suspicious that your laser will pass through the coating and burn what it can of the paper part of the card. Usually visible light lasers won’t damage clear coatings or other clear objects.

Some visible light lasers have problems with white, as it reflects a lot of the lasers power.

Curious to see and hear about your results.

Good luck.

True. I engraved wood under a 1/8" layer of clear epoxy resin. Looked really good, too.
