I’ve got a question/concern about my current setup.
With the laser module at 0%, when i move it (ex: homing) I’m have weird flickering, the laser fires at very low power when moving (altough i have it not too) and its not constant. I’ve read about static build up and found out that the outlets on my garage are not grounded.
Can the missing ground cause this issue?
Grounding the outlets its not doable at the moment, is there any way to ground the frame or do something to prevent this?
I have the hardware needed to equalize the frame, but how do I ground the whole thing if there’s no ground in the outlet?
That sounds like wiring in an older building. Do you have any exposed water pipes in the garage? Running a wire from that (use bronze pipe ground clamp) to the machine should do it. That said, that may not be the cause, but it is a cheap test. Try the ground wire and come back if that does not fix it.
That should get you most of the way to the goal, because the main problem is charge buildup between two insulated parts of the frame: the gantry, in particular, rides on rubber wheels with no electrical contact to the rest of the machine.
Bonding all the isolated parts together will eliminate that charge buildup. While it’s still possible for the whole machine to become charged, that’s less likely to be a problem because all the parts will be at the same potential and cannot discharge to each other.
Bond everything together while you’re figuring out how to get a good electrical ground into that room!
