I have managed to connect my Ruida laser (Omtech 50w CO2 laser) to my Mac using ethernet and changing the IP address of the laser machine, as suggested in one of your posts.
The machine is listed in the Lightburn devices list but it won’t connect to the computer.
I read that MacOS needs some extra drivers but can’t find these anywhere??
Anyone have any ideas.
Many thanks
I don’t think Ethernet needs anything special… maybe you are thinking usb…
It probably won’t find it, but you should be able to set it up manually. If you can see it on the local network, you should be able to connect…
Were you using USB when this was created?
If you’ve changed from USB to Ethernet you will have to ‘edit’ the device or create a new one with the new ip instead of the USB.
You can use a command line utility, ‘arp-scan’, to tell you what’s hanging out on the local network and you should see your laser there.
Keep in mind that the Ruida is not dynamically assigned an IP, it’s static and it’s possible your router could assign the Ruida IP to another device…
Good luck
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, that isn’t the problem.
I have manually added the laser machine (on a separate IP address) to use via ethernet and it is in the device list on Lightburn so it’s found it.
The problem is that it won’t connect…
I’ve heard there’s lots of problems using Macs with Ruidas and was looking to see if anyone else has managed to resolve this problem.
Many thanks
The only issue I know of is the USB related items… You should be able to connect, as it’s a standard UDP connection.
Did you try ‘right-click’ on the ‘devices’ button … this causes an attempt to reconnect…
