Controller boards

Hello All, Sorry if this is a rehashed topic. I now have a Cohesion 3D board in my 40W laser “K40 type”. I would like to upgrade to something similar that would basically ‘drop in’. I always run using the computer with lightburn controlling the laser directly. I would like to get an idea what would be the best replacement board for my laser as the Cohesion 3D board is getting tired. So any ideas to preferences as to a replacement? On board program storage as an added feature would be a nice to have in addition to direct control via lightburn. I really want a screen attached as well. So lets hear your thoughts on this. Thanks very much. Mark in Lowell Indiana

Because LightBurn only runs on MacOS, Windows, and older versions on Linux, you’ll need a PC either way to operate the device. You could get a tablet like the gControl Panel PC gControl Panel Computer | Sienci Labs - which is a full windows PC with a touch screen.

What do you mean by your C3D board is getting tired? Has something failed?

The thing with the 3d board is it will lock up every now and then. Sometimes is will freeze in the middle of a job. It will just stop moving and Lightburn will say it is cutting. The problem is random in nature but very aggravating. I have been all through windows 11 and turned off all “power saving’ settings. This just happens very randomly so I am thinking the board may be messing up.

That is the classic symptom of USB communications problems.
