The picture is a design of a leather key chain. I used the offset shape tool to create the red line 2.5 mm inward from the black line. I used this red line and the copy along path tool to create the stitching holes. I wanted the holes roughly 4-6 mm apart. When the key chain is folder over (the two round parts matched together) the stitching holes don’t line up. Is there a way to line up the holes using the copy along path tool or do I just need to line each hole up manually?
I‘d try to cut the hole path into two shapes, right in the middle. Then copy the holes on one half and mirror it. Then they should align correctly.
You could upload the Lightburn file so others can play with it, no?.
It obviously is a mismatch in the center.
Your parameters:
- Start point of the first hole. Use your grid center of 1/2 the 15 units to set your first hole.
- Number of holes. You have 32 on the bottom and 31 on the top, net 63 holes. Try an even number instead.
- Hole spacing, affects the # of holes based on hole diameter. You can use the Measure tool to get the actual path length.
- Hole diameter.
As you can see, you have a 4-variable problem to solve. My bet is on the bolded #2 choice. That likely means measuring the path length, then use the hole diameter and spacing length to get one whole (pun intended) Unit. Adjust hole spacing until the Unit divided into the Total Path Length comes out an even whole (no pun intended) number.
If there is a shortcut, bring it on so I can add it to my notes!
