I have been trying to take some text and make it curve to a line. I have tried using Copy on Path, and it actually worked one time. NOT sure why? I have looked at the software documentation, googled my question, started over, etc. No luck. I must be missing something. I have attached a copy of my screen.

Sorry, @MikeyH has the right one. Sometimes this “error” copy happens…
Now he has both. I am sure it will make him curious about what else is in the documentation. 
Your documentation is not matching mine…yours is much better and I do wonder what else is out there!
Still unable to get this to work! I make a line, create the text go to the command and nothing happens. Other times, the command is greyed out. Cannot determine a reason…
Open the Docs for this, then do exactly what it says step by step. It should work.
NOW go back and make changes at each step, like select something other than text, to see how the Lightburn controls respond.

Did you convert your text to path and then group your text, as it looks like?
I just tried it. The hard part was making that line curve like it does.
Create line, write text, select both, and use the tool to put it on the line. The order you create things will impact how it ends up.

I got it! Thanks to you all! I want to say that I did the same thing thirty times and it did not work. To be honest, I am not sure what I did previously. However, with your assistance…got it! I did note in the document tutorial, that I can make adjustments using Hspace and Vspace…when are those functions available? Once the text and line are merged, that portion of the menu is greyed out.

The DOC said I can use Vspace and Hspace. Those functions are greyed out once my text is attached to the path. What scenario allows me to use this for Text on Path.
Have not needed to play with those, but I am guessing you need to apply before it is linked to the line. Once you have the text on the line, you can still select the text and modify the font or size (and more) in the Text Edit window.
Edit: Just did some messing with it. Once you marry the text to the line, delete the line and see what happens. CTRL-Z and then convert the text to a path. Experiment!!!
