Those functions are greyed out once my text is attached to the path.

Semi-educated guess…

Once the text is applied, the two are something like grouped. The text is no longer alone, so Vspace and Hspace can no longer act on it because they cannot isolate the text characters.

This stuff is so cool, no?

I know. Sometimes I get a straight line, and sometimes I get a Bezier curve. My hand has not figured how to control the difference yet.

I did note in the document tutorial, that I can make adjustments using Hspace and Vspace…when are those functions available? Once the text and line are merged, that portion of the menu is greyed out.

Thanks for bringing this up. I poked around to see what was happening. When you first use Apply Path to Text, both the path and the text are selected by default. If you either click off of the combined shapes or press the escape key, you can then select just the text and use HSpace and the other text options as you’d expect.

I’ll add a note about this to the docs as well.
